Welcome of the First Year Session

On September 8, Evangeline Booth College welcomed its First Year Cadets/Students (Messengers of Compassion) during a public welcome service held at the Atlanta Temple Corps. During this occassion, we also witnessed the Retirement Ceremony of Commissioners Donald C. and Debora K. Bell along with a visit from our International Leader, General Andre Cox.

Spring Sale

Please come out and join us for a day of music, fun, and some great deals as we hold this year’s Spring Sale on Saturday, May 14th at the Evangeline Booth College located at 1032 Metropolitan Pkwy., SW, Atlanta, GA. The proceeds and contributions go toward our World Service Goal to support the mission of the Salvation Army in other countries.

We recently held our special service which announced the locations for Spring Missions. The Cadets and Officers are excited about the opportunities to share and participate in worship and service with the following locations from March 5 – March 14, 2016:

Orlando, FL

Kerrville, TX

Tijuana, Mexico City, and Cancun, Mexico

Latin America North Territory (Cuba)

Cadets Return to Campus

Cadets begin to return to campus on August 3rd. Please be in prayer for the 1st Years and their families who are about to begin their Training experience. Also, pray for the 2nd Years who are coming back from a Summer of Practicum and are eager to begin their final year before being Commissioned in 2016.

On behalf of Major John Carter, CRD Secretary I write to announce that the Communications Bureau will webcast the public welcome of the Messengers of Light Session of Cadets, live from Atlanta Temple, Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday, September 6.

The meeting will commence at 6:00 PM EST, and we will present a pre-show about 30 minutes before commencing at 5:30 PM.

Spring Missions/Campaigns!

It is that time of year again!

Each spring the cadets set out on missions around America and around the globe. This year, the cadets are more excited than ever to get out there and share the good news of Jesus Christ. The second year cadets are headed to Jamaica and the first year cadets will be spread out from Ft. Myers, Fl. to Hampton Roads, Va. and everywhere in-between.

Imagine the Possibilities

“Imagine the Possibilities” is a non-profit organization that works with children who have disabilities. The website for the organization states the following: “Imagine what is possible…seeing the outer edge of all that we can become and then chasing that dream.. it’s the right of every human being. No matter what the challenge or obstacle, we all deserve the chance to try.”

What did you imagine you would be when you were young? Growing up at 1229 Hill Street, it was “imaging” that transformed my front yard! It was my playground, the place where my imagination transformed that yard into a ball field, an airport, and even a concert stage! I recently traveled back to that place and stopped my car in front of that yard that was my playground during those early years. Somehow, the old place looked smaller than I remembered it. The trees were not as full, the sidewalk was cracked, and boyhood dreaming seemed to give way to the harsher realities of life.

When Paul wrote to the church at Ephesus, he reminded them about who they were in Christ and all they could be in Him. He wanted to expand their horizons, helping them to understand the full magnitude of what Christ could do in their lives. In the second half of Ephesians chapter 3, Paul prays that they would understand the full extent of Christ and His power at work in their lives. He reminds them that the work that Christ wanted to do was “more than they can im-agine”.

God has called you on an amazing journey to follow him. You have answered that call by coming to the Evangeline Booth College. It is the beginning of a journey that will ultimately end when you hear the Master’s well done. What will God do with you along this journey? What do you imagine he will do and where he will take you? When God first spoke to Abram about building a nation, I am sure Abram could only imagine what that would mean. As he looked up at the stars of heaven, could he grasp the magnitude of what God would do? Could he imagine that through his descendants would come the Savior of the world?

This is the place for you to dream big! God is about to do more than you can possibly imagine! Open your heart to all that He has in store for you as you start this amazing journey called Officership.

May you find peace and joy in the God of possibilities as you fulfill His calling on your life.
