Cadet Storage
In the basement of each residence, there is a cadet storage area. In your general information letter, you received your assigned storage area. To assist you in locating your storage unit, your unit has been clearly marked with your name. Campus storage is extremely limited.
Cleaning Supplies
Each quarters has been stocked with cleaning supplies. In addition, the quarters in Marshall Hall and Noble Hall are equipped with a mop, broom and vacuum cleaner. The basement of the Powell Administration Building is affectionately known as “The Dungeon”. This is the location where all cleaning supplies are stored for the SFOT Campus, including your living quarters. Should you need cleaning supplies and paper products for your apartment, you may secure these items from the dungeon. When securing supplies, please check out your supplies by recording what you take on the computer in “The Dungeon”. Please take only the items that you need for your apartment. The supply cage is opened each morning from 7:30 AM – 8:00 AM and during work scholarship.
Dry Cleaning
The School for Officer Training currently utilizes Pro Cleaners as our service cleaners. The details of dry cleaning will be covered during Introduction to Campus Living and can be reviewed prior to the class in the Cadet Handbook. However, should you need dry cleaning prior to Introduction to Campus Living, the Cadets’ laundry room is located in the basement of the Cadet Dining Room. Cadets should complete a laundry ticket which they will place, along with their dry cleaning, in one laundry bag.
Furniture
Please know that all furnishing items are to remain in your quarters. If you wish to store personal furnishing items you will not be using, they must be placed in your quarter’s storage or assigned bin. If you live in Marshall Hall or Noble Hall, and have bunk beds, they MUST remain assembled. If there are circumstances which would necessitate the removal of furniture, please clear this through Captain Jamie Bell in the Property/Home/Transportation Department.
Keys
If you lose your apartment or mailbox key, you will need to contact Bob Bullock in the Maintenance Department to purchase a replacement key at a cost of $10.00 per key. If you lose your key after hours, you may contact Captain Jamie Bell for assistance.
Laundry Facilities
Each residence is equipped with laundry facilities. Arkwright’s laundry facility is located in the basement. Schoenbaum’s laundry facility is located in the basement. Marshall Hall has two laundry facilities on each floor. Noble Hall’s laundry facility is located in the basement.
Enclosed in your welcome packet is a family Mac-Gray Laundry card. This card acts as a prepaid credit card. To credit money to your card, simply follow the directions posted on the Mac-Gray machine located in the Lanier Activity Center. If you find that a machine is not working, we ask that you submit this information to Captain Jamie Bell via Lotus Notes. Please do not call the 1-800 number on the machines, as service calls must be placed through the Property/Home/Transportation Department.
Linens
Since the majority of Cadets prefer to use their own bedding, bedspreads are not provided in the dorms. However, we do have a supply of bedspreads in the event that you do need bedding. Please contact the Property/Home/Transportation Department for any bedding needs.
Medical Appointments
Should you need to schedule a doctor’s appointment upon your arrival, Health & Wellness Officers can assist you in selecting a doctor (see also page 15). If you have a scheduled appointment approved by Health & Wellness, bring the approved form to the Property/Home/Transportation Department as soon as approved, and a vehicle will be reserved for your use. But remember, your appointment must be approved through Health and Wellness before Property/Home/Transportation will reserve a vehicle for you. If you brought your personal vehicle, you are required to use it for all personal appointments such as doctors, dentist, or counseling.
Telephone Service
All rooms are equipped with telephones. You can call from room-to-room and most places on campus by dialing the extention. For room-to-room calls, the extension is the last three digits of the room phone number.
In order to make a local call within the Atlanta area, press 9 to obtain an outside line. Please note that all local calls are free and require the dialing of the area code and the 7-digit phone number. If you desire to make a long distance call, a credit card or phone card must be used.
Trash
The trash dumpster is located between Marshall Hall and Noble Hall. You are responsible for disposing of your own trash. Please do not place the trash from your quarters in the trash bins located at your housing unit; take the trash from your quarters to the trash dumpster. In addition, please help keep these areas clean by picking up drops and spills when dumping your trash. The compactor can be activated by pushing in on the key that is located in the panel box to the left of the compactor.[/toggle]
